SENEGAL medical examinations in the villages

The project started in 2012: a specialized medical team reached some disadvantaged locations without medical assistance centers nearby.

Between 2013 and 2023, approximately 120 villages were reached, with multiple missions during each year,  in the regions of Tambaconda, Diorbel, Louga, Kedougou, Tamba, Kaolack, Thies and in the distant Casamance. Around 5,000 people have been examined and treated and more than 20,000 euros of medicines and medical supplies,  have been distributed. Come Noi supports the visits with contributions for doctors, transport, general expenses (petrol, food and accommodation) and medical supplies.

The project has a very positive impact on communities and local authorities: mayors, District medical managers and prefects have expressed their appreciation.

Since 2019, medical visits have been directly supervised once a year by Dr Marco Albonico of Come Noi. Since 2020, the Ndiebel college has been included, and, in addition to offering medical visits to the students, Come Noi has also contributed to the renovation of the college.

In 2022, at the request of the director of the Ecole National des Beaux Arts in Dakar, visits were carried out by specialized doctors: ophthalmologist, cardiologist, gynaecologist and paediatrician. 300 students and also the administrative staff were visited.

This activity received official recognition and media coverage: Valentino de Vecchi followed the organization on site and was interviewed by the Senegalese national news.

The 2023/2024 activity includes 5 visits starting from November 2023 until May 2024 in the following locations: Ndiebel, Marlodi, Diagle Sine, Toukar and Oussoye.
