UGANDA Agricultural training for the women of the village of Bala

le donne del progetto di formazione agricola del villaggio di Bala in Uganda

The project started in 2015 when our local contats pointed out the need to help single women with dependent or elderly children through the agricultural training.
We have taken this new challenge with enthusiasm: Francesco Salvi, Giorgio Rabajoli, Father George Ogwal and Mons. Giuseppe Franzelli lead the project, thanks to the experience gained in 9 years of activity in training projects.
32 groups of 30 women each were activated, assigning a contribution of € 500 per group and a kit (iron box with three locks and three keys, notebooks and pencils for accounting).
These are the activities:
– meetings with all the groups for the presentation and discussion of the project and with women members of other groups to exchange experiences and real testimonies for possible developments
– training in the fundamental roles of accounting, management of meeting and courses organization (treasurer, secretary, group leader)
– agricultural training and breeding
– meetings with members of other similar groups present in the diocese of Lira to develop a self-help network.
The goal is that the project does not remain assistance only, but becomes the beginning of a development path.
Women know that, to help this to happen, they must be a united group, well organized with a good work plan and an external network that supports them.
Caritas will help them to involve families and friends, in self-training and to organize exchange meetings with other villages where similar projects have been activated.
Caritas will assist them in preparing the sowing, harvesting, selling plan and to solve practical problems.
The challenge has started.
