The project started in 2020: every week Dr Athanase Sarr, a doctor selected by Comme Nous and supported by the Carlo Urbani Prize grant (AICU), visits, without any charge, patients at the Malicounda health post, located near Mbour. The health post is managed by a nurse who collaborates with a midwife and a pharmacist. The presence of Dr Sarr, a competent and dedicated young doctor, has improved healthcare and the management of the dispensary. With Dr Sarr’s contribution, some needs were also identified for the renovation and purchase of healthcare materials and equipment, which were supplied in 2020. In May …

A mill in Foumban
During July 2020, through father Giovanni Gonco, who spent 22 years as a missionary in Cameroun, we received a pressing request by father Eric for buying a mill and a building where to place it safely. And this with the aim of giving some hope to a group of English-speaking Cameroun people who had to leave their land, their houses and everything, several years ago to escape persecution as an ethnic minority. The group includes about 50 families, with some invalids, for a total of about 150 people, including many kids, without a school where to go, in a Country …

TOGO High school construction in Afagnan Gbleta
After the rapid realization and activation of the two Afagna Gbleta and Sandale Kope wells by the members of APMED, the Togolese organization that we decided to finance, we were offered a project of a very different size and cost. It was about creating a high school for 150 students in the Afagnan Gbleta area. About 300 students, male and female, attended the high school in this area but it was a shack, among other things without a toilet, where we could only store agricultural tools. It makes sense to have this kind of school in Togo, because it is …

TOGO Escavation of water wells
From 2018 the escavation of wells has started in a -for us- new African country: TOGO. Thanks to the suggestion of one of our members Paolo Pianezza, we have got in touch with Christian Katou, and with the APMED association. Christian asked us to partially finance the escavation of a well in the village of Afagna Gbleta. As we are trying to extend our activities in new countries, we have no plans in Togo and the political situation there, is not as problematic as in most African states, we have decided to approve the project and to finance it. The …
The urbanization project of the favela Vila Canoas
In the 90s, Giuliana and Franco Urani involved us in a great urbanization project born from their proximity to the ‘favelados’- inhabitants of the’ favela’- of Vila Canoas in Rio de Janeiro , the slum grown around their house. The ambitious objective was to provide not only the essential services for an acceptable life, but also to give full citizenship to the ‘favelados’, ignored by the authorities of the city and of the state, mostly unknown even in the registry office. The project was complex and the most challenging, even in financial terms, ever faced by Come Noi. But the …
